Game of Thrones Season 5 Unboxing

I’m a little late in the game for this post, the Game of Thrones season 5 DVD sets released two weeks ago and I usually get them on the day of release. Purchasing the episodes (I will never pirate this show, sorry) digitally could’ve been much easier, but there’s something nostalgic about sliding a new DVD into my computer or DVD player. I also have a collection of the seasons, it wouldn’t seem right to skip this one. That being said, this is just a quick post for a fun picture documentation of my slight obsession with this series. 😉

When I took my lunch break from work, I ran out to the store as soon as I could. It was the last regular DVD version on the shelf at Best Buy. It was meant to be…

So far, I was impressed by the design of the cover. It adopted the same Season 5  poster but with gold metallic undertones. The clear part of the cover was engrained with the many different house sigils of the major houses in the 7 Kingdoms, and of course, a view of the Iron Throne on the back.

Mmmmm…I had to take it off slowly.

One moment that stuck out to me when I first took out the DVD sets, was the image of Daenerys looking towards Tyrion, symbolism for their future meeting in the series.

As I opened the rest of the DVD sets, I loved the juxtaposition of the Lannister and the Stark siblings. Tyrion and Cersei show a significant amount of contrast in their positions, and Arya and Sansa show a similar composition of strength. Each of the images represents their struggles, growth, and changes as characters.

In the end, Daenerys and Jon Snow are the only two characters on their own. Fitting for their own personal situations.

And of course, an episode guide with the cover of the mysterious Sons of the Harpy along with some advertisements for some GOT gear, came packaged with the set.

My collection is now complete again.

It’s time to sit back and enjoy marathoning the most recent part of the series! The interesting thing about the 5th season and the upcoming 6th season is that the story has continued beyond the books. So even I don’t know what lies ahead in the storyline, and I almost can’t contain my excitement. Coming up soon, the Top 5 Game of Thrones Episodes Ever. Thank you for enduring this rabid fangirl post!
